Annual awards launched by women in logistics

Following the success of its first ever Ball in 2012, networking and support group, Women in Logistics UK, is holding another charity ball and awards night this September, but this time with three inspiring themes to celebrate. It is not only five years since Women in Logistics UK was founded by Ruth Waring, and we are raising funds for the charity Transaid, which is marking its 15th year, but we are recognising even more achievements of the women and pioneering companies in the logistics sector. Award nominations are now open and this year the categories are: Woman of the Year – sponsored by Search Consultancy; Young Woman of the Year (under 30) – sponsored by Manpower; Company of the Year (250 or more employees) – sponsored by Forton Group; SME of the Year (fewer than 250 employees) – sponsored by PepsiCo. The aim in granting these awards is to share best practice, show how corporate companies in the logistics sector are creating and demanding gender equality as a pre-requisite for doing business in the 21st century, and to celebrate the achievements of women in the sector. Ruth Waring, FCILT says “There are many companies in the logistics sector which demonstrate commitment and innovation in attracting, developing and retaining women at all levels. We want to celebrate these companies, and share their methods so the whole sector can benefit. And of course, we will be continuing the work of Women in Logistics by championing the role of inspiring women in logistics.” To enter the awards, or to book a ticket to the ball, which is on 20th September 2013 at St John’s Hotel in Solihull, visit womeninlogistics.org.uk
