CIPS 2013 Supply Chain Management Awards short list released

The prestigious CIPS Supply Management Awards have announced their shortlist of 2013 nominees. Last year, approximately 1,200 buyers from across the UK attended the awards ceremony, with North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) taking home the top award, along with being named Best Contribution to the Reputation of the Procurement Profession. Who will bag the top prize this year? The shortlist for CIPS Supply Management Awards 2013 is as follows: Best Contribution to Corporate Responsibility Entrants in this category will be judged on the role their supply chain or procurement management has played in promoting brand reputation and corporate values. As such, this category focuses primarily on social, ethical and sustainability efforts.   – Barclays – Sainsbury’s Supermarkets – Skanska – IBM – Tullow Oil – JD Wetherspoon – Selwood Housing – Scottish Procurement   Best Contribution to the Reputation of the Procurement Profession Organisations will compete based on their procurement operations and the effect they’ve had on their profession’s reputation.   – City of Glasgow College, Scottish Government & Skills Development Scotland – Department for International Development – UK Shared Business Services   Best Cross-Functional Teamwork Project Entrants will be judged on internal cooperation among departments.   – EE – Novartis Pharma AG – RBS (Network) – Co-operative Group – Sainsbury's Supermarkets – RBS (Saturn) – Sellafield   Best People Development Initiative Judges will examine entrants’ supply chain and procurement training and development programmes, rewarding that which has had the most pronounced effect on performance.   – Hewlett-Packard Global Procurement – IBM – BP – Sheffield City Council – Scottish Government – RBS   Best Public Procurement Project This category is open to all public sector organisations.   – Staffordshire County Council – Surrey & Borders Partnership Foundation NHS Trust – Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust – Scottish Procurement – Essex County Council – Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency – Ministry of Defence – NHS Blood and Transplant – NHS Shared Business Services – Sellafield   Best Supplier Relationship Management Entrants will be judged on their ability to work together for mutual benefit.   – Jaguar Land Rover and Gobel & Partner – Balfour Beatty and Reconomy – F. Hoffmann-La Roche and Partners – EE and Capita Travel & Events – Northumbrian Water and Aqua Consultants   Most Improved Procurement Operation – Start Up Judges will compare entrants’ improvement in procurement and professional purchasing since January 2011. Organisations must provide a compelling argument as to how procurement has benefited their enterprise as a whole.   – Danone Baby Nutrition – AB Connect – Hitachi Rail Europe – D&B Business Information Solutions   Most Improved Procurement Operation – Step Change In this category, judges will establish which organisation has displayed the most significant improvement throughout their well-established procurement management.   – Boeing Defence UK – Gatwick Airport – Innovia Films – LV= – Network Rail – Skanska – Bunzl Retail Supplies – Celcom Axiata Berhad – Regus – Weetabix   International Procurement Project of the Year Entrants will be judged based on the success of international projects, specifically with regards to international sourcing of goods or services.   – Ministry of Defence – BAE Systems – EE – BP Exploration Operating Company – Department for International Development   Best Procurement Consultancy Project of the Year This award is new to the 2013 competition, and serves to recognise an organisation that has provided excellent support in a purchasing and supply project.   – Efficio – PA Consulting and the Ministry of Defence – Capita and Staffordshire County Council – Newton Europe and Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust – Institute for Competition & Procurement Studies, Bangor University   This year, Gerry Walsh, former procurement director at the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, will join the panel of judges. Mr Walsh took home his own CIPS’ award last year, receiving the title of Procurement and Supply Chain Professional of the Year.
