Kirkcudbrightshire

Jobs in Kirkcudbrightshire

Kirkcudbrightshire was a self-contained county until absorbed into Dumfries and Galloway in the 1970s. Its traditional neighbours were Wigtownshire, Ayrshire and Dumfriesshire, with the Irish Sea to its south. The county town of Kirkcudbright is a small fishing town situated in a natural harbour; the town is still quite small, with a population of about 3000. Much of the area of the traditional county is now taken up by the Galloway Forest Park, and tourism plays an important role in its economy.

Prospects for finding jobs in Kirkcudbrightshire are limited by it lack or major centres of population. However the tourism industry can create some opportunities, and the area is relatively well connected to the population centres of Scotland and England.
