 Role Title

Junior Ecommerce Merchandiser

Role Profile

My client, a successful online seasonal retail business, is looking to appoint a Junior E-commerce Merchandiser to join their head office team in Chorley. You will be very commercial in your thinking and approach to work, to take a wider view of the business as opposed to an independent merchandising function. You will support the Commercial Director in order for them to relinquish some responsibility and will have the chance to get involved in the buying side as the role develops. This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident, hungry and enthusiastic individual with a spark about them to join a down-to-earth, friendly and fun head office team within a growing online retailer with plenty of opportunity to develop and make the role their own.

  • To support the Commercial Director in maximising sales acrossall three online brands and with expansion into other European markets
  • Planning product ranges and preparing sales and stock planned in conjunction with the buyer
  • Ownership of KPI reporting on sales and margin by product category
  • Liaising with the Commercial Director and Sales and Operations Director to ensure day to day practice is in line with the overall business strategy
  • Managing all pricing and margin analysis on all product categories
  • Monitor best sellers and ensure availability on all core products
  • Maintain an awareness of competitors pricing and performance

Areas of future opportunity

  • Working closely with the PPC (pay per click) Manager, ensure the buying and merchandising strategy is in line with marketing spend
  • Suggest new areas of opportunity and product development
  • Occasional travel visiting suppliers in the UK and Europe
  • Communicating and negotiating with various suppliers
  • Create a forecasting plan quarterly to identify areas of opportunity and risk
  • Opportunity to implement new practices and processes and help shape the business strategy
  • Have a keen eye and basic understanding of google analytics and interest in the website layout

Skills, Experience & Personal Attributes

  • 2-3 years' head office merchandising experience
  • Numerate with strong IT skills (Excel) and a keen eye for detail
  • Ambitious, keen to learn and develop
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
  • Understanding of merchandising best practices
  • Pro-active, can conduct own analysis
  • Hands-on and not afraid to muck in and support other areas in the business
