Role Profile

Our client, a fashion retailer based in West Yorkshire, is looking to appoint a Merchandise Assistant to join their head office team. You will work as part of the product team, reporting into the Merchandiser, assisting in planning and delivering departmental KPI's with a key focus on stock KPI's. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and analytical individual with merchandising experience to join a friendly and supportive team. You will be joining an established, customer focused business with opportunities for driven individuals to progress as the business continues to grow.

Responsibilities

  • Review stock requirements and make recommendations as to what is required to ensure future service is maximised
  • Ensure stocks are optimised by managing over stocks and well as under stocks
  • Place and chase all initial and repeat orders as agreed with the Merchandiser and confirming orders with suppliers
  • Identify problem styles and recommend additional demand activity to clear stocks where overstocked or a plan to ensure service risk is kept to a minimum
  • Chasing and prioritising purchase orders and completing weekly reporting
  • Carry out weekly reviews to monitor demand and ensure all information is accurate whilst making recommendations to the Merchandiser regarding potential buys/cancelled orders/deferred orders/substitutes/setting of refunds etc.
  • Ensure all orders are delivered on time and take action where required
  • Identify airfreight where needed taking a commercial view of requirements to maximise service
  • Develop a good relationship with the warehouse, working together to ensure business priorities are communicated and carried out

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrate prior merchandising experience including stock management, assisting merchandiser in dept. level tasks and a solid understanding of the role of a Merchandiser
  • Potential to develop to be an Assistant Merchandiser (or established and comfortable at this level)
  • Down to earth and a team player
  • Pro-active with the ability to question, challenge and initiate change whilst still being aligned with the business goals
  • Highly numerate
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Passionate about product
  • Preferably educated to degree level (although not essential)
  • Have excellent Excel skills
