Role Profile
Our client, an award-winning clothing supplier, is looking to appoint a number of Sourcing & Supply Planners to join their friendly, growing team based in Greater Manchester. Working as part of a close-knit team and reporting into the Sourcing & Supply Chain Manager, you will be an expert in the most appropriate sources of supply for your chosen product categories. You will take responsibility for reviewing the current supply routes evaluating the effectiveness of the current sources of supply, developing new and more appropriate sources of supply for each product category. You will also provide the link between the external suppliers and the internal Simon Jersey commercial product development teams, ensure all sources of supply are assessed in their capability to provide competitive costings for products that are manufactured to the required quality levels under CSR standards. Responsibilities

  • Manage supplier relationships and communication
  • Source new suppliers to improve costs, quality and lead times
  • Support new business and category managers to ensure critical path timings are accurate and achieved
  • Manage CSR audits and corrective action plans with your factories
  • Work with the Costings Manager to deliver commercially competitive products and ranges
  • Provide production forecasts to your factories to ensure production capacity is available to support sales
  • Review and evaluate the appropriateness of the current sources of supply
  • Build new supply routes that offer improved costs whilst maintaining high standards of quality and CSR
  • Maintain and develop supplier relationships both remotely and in person
  • Assist factories in forecasting capacity to ensure lead times are achieved
  • Develop a broad and flexible supply chain for your product categories that can support low cost high volume as well as short lead time low volumes
  • Collaborate with other Sourcing & Supply Chain Planners to ensure multi category suppliers are supported coherently
  • Mentor junior members of the team

  • Proven experience of working in a far shore sourcing role
  • Strong coaching and personal development skills

  • PC Literate with high skills in Powerpoint, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Previous experience in the textile / garment manufacturing industry is desirable
  • Proven experience of negotiating with external suppliers is desirable
  • Self-motivated, resilient and tenacious with a strong work ethic
  • Organised, methodical and a good process/people balance
  • Logical thinker who is able to solve problems and keep a cool head
  • Passionate and driven
  • Strong team player, conscientious, trustworthy and reliable
