Role Profile
My client, a market leading trend-led retailer, is looking to appoint an Assistant Merchandiser to join their friendly and collaborative team based in Manchester. Reporting into the Senior Merchandiser, you will plan and trade a specific department whilst working alongside the buying team to increase sales, profitability and to reduce stock holding. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing business where you will gain exposure to different channels and all levels of seniority internally as well as externally, gaining a broader business knowledge. This position will suit an experienced allocator or merchandise assistant with strong Excel skills and an understanding of core merchandising best practises gained from working within a retail head office, looking to take a step up in their career. You will be joining a down to earth and welcoming team under the guidance of an extremely knowledgeable and passionate Head of Merchandising.
Key Responsibilities
- Putting together Monday trading packs
- Undertaking end of season analysis by category
- Setting up/ maintaining range monitors
- Answering store queries relating to stock availability
- Planning seasonal promotions to drive sales and profitability
- Working with visual teams to plan space and store grading
- Accurate category analysis for strategy and sign off meetings
- Reforecast sales on a monthly basis to ensure OTB is being managed
- Produce initial seasonal phasing plans to review with line manager
- End of season analysis
- Awareness of planned promotions with stock increased planned to maximise sales
- Overall knowledge of trade across the business
- Suggest repeats to maintain 100% availability
- Ensuring replenishment levels on bestsellers are high
- Ensuring stock availability for mark down is at 100% for launch
- Updating core line cards on a weekly basis
- Ensuring Trading Calendar is adhered to
- Deputising for line manager in meetings
- Working with the ecom team to ensure trade is maximised online
- Ensuring delivery schedules are up to date with accurate information
- Managing stock coming into the business, liaising with the buying team, freight forwarder, and warehouse
- Ensuring intake is being delivered to plan
- Assessing store grading, ensuring correct stock packages are sent
- Working with visual merch team to ensure ranges are displayed effectively
- Training Allocator to deputise in your absence
Skills, Experience & Personal Attributes
- Retail merchandising at Allocator or Merchandise Assistant level is essential
- A solid understanding of merchandising best practises
- Strong Excel skills
- Experience of Monday trade
- Ability to hit the ground running
- Ability to manage large sku count
- Confident and well-presented
- Ability to communicate confidently at all levels up to Director
- Commercial awareness
- Interested in following fashion trends
