Assistant Shift Manager (Days/Nights) - Logistics

North London

£26,000 - £29,500

Four on, Four off rotating shift pattern between days & nights 19:00 - 07:00 & 07:00 & 19:00

Role Profile

Our client is a leading Food Distributor in the UK. They are looking to recruit a high calibre candidate to support the Shift Manager to lead, develop & motivate their team of multi drop drivers.


  • Maintain and complete all performance KPI`s, including operational performance and service levels
  • Ensure the fast moving moving Transport Operations runs smoothly & efficiently by achieving optimum service levels across all contracts whilst working to specific KPI's
  • Maintain an environment conducive to providing excellent internal and external customer service as well as to maintain and execute agreed service levels compliant with customer's expectations
  • Manage the demands of the busy night shift deal with issues in a professional & timely manner.
  • Ensure all routes are covered and leave the depot at the agreed departure times
  • Assisting in management of staffing levels & monitoring standard which support the achievements of the companies objectives.
  • Provide consistent direction to the team through effective communication and performance management of the Team.
  • Provide a regular support to the team with regards to the training and development needs
  • Ensure that all staff adhere to the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act, The Food Safety Act and any other current legislation. Challenge and act where appropriate.
    Compiling and completing shift handovers on a daily bases and sharing information with the different departments

Skills & Experience

  • Ability to communicate at all levels & be familiar with all aspects of legislation relating to commercial vehicles (including tachographs & driver hour regulations).
  • Flexible, supportive attitude, keen to run multiple tasks and hungry to taken on new challenges & progress within the business.
  • Ability to build strong team relationships & possess excellent organisation & people management skills.
  • Able to identify training needs whilst promoting health & safety best practises.
  • Well-presented and acts in a professional manner.
  • Needs basic PC skills with a working knowledge of Word & Excel/
  • Experience using Optac & Microlise
