Buying Manager
Up to £70-80k

Role Profile
To manage, support and develop the buying team in range building, selection, sourcing, buying, visual presentation and execution of the product offer in line with the target customer profile. To support trading and driving sales and maximising cash margin in line with the Company Strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Jointly with the Merchandising Manager, ensure that the product strategy is delivered in line with the Company Business Strategy, taking full account of historical performance, market conditions and the key competitors. Maintain the core vision, mission and values of the business.
  • Ensure that there is a clear Critical Path process and that deadlines are met in order to achieve Business objectives.
  • In conjunction with the Sourcing Strategy, liaise with the supply base to ensure delivery of product strategy is implemented. Assist in the management of the supply base to ensure that supplier KPIs are delivered
  • Drive newness in product ranges through identifying opportunities and challenging status quo
  • Focus on delivering product for our customer profile and maintain commercial vision
  • Jointly with the Merchandising Manager, ensure the necessary trading disciplines are in place to safeguard delivery of the planned sales and cash margin.
  • Communicate with and work alongside Design, Technical, VM, and Retail
  • Work with the Multi-Channel Trading Manager to ensure that Product Strategy is executed simultaneously across all channels
  • Work closely with the Marketing and Visual Merchandising teams to ensure effective customer presentation of the product offer.
  • Manage the performance and development of direct reports to maximize individual and team performance.
  • Manage departmental expenditure to ensure the department operates within agreed budget constraints.
  • Work with HR team to develop training and development on the Buying Team

  • Skills, Experience & Attributes
  • The candidate is ideally currently operating at Buying Manager level or similar (although Senior Buyers with exceptional experience may be considered)
  • Womenswear experience is a must with a strong understanding of the market.
  • Passion for product with a great eye
  • Excellent communication skills, a people person, with the ability to get a team on board quickly
  • Bright, driven and confident
  • Highly organised and methodical
  • Proven track record of following through on critical path.
