Role Profile
My client, an established and growing online retailer, is looking to appoint an E-commerce Trading Merchandiser to join their head office team based in Burnley. Reporting into the Merchandise Manager, this is a hands-on and autonomous role where you will be responsible for delivering budgeted levels of sales and gross margin across a variety of international websites and marketplaces. Competitor and product awareness along with insight of the local trading landscape across a number of countries are key to success in this role. This £60m+ turnover business has plans for further expansion, therefore there is potential for the right candidate to drive forward their own progression. This is a fantastic opportunity for an analytical and confident Merchandiser with a strong trading mentality and stock management and forecasting skills to join a close-knit, down to earth and supportive team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Checking key competitor prices on key products to ensure our product and price offering is competitive
  • Making pricing recommendations for new and existing products based on brand guidelines and local competition
  • Reviewing upsells/cross sells and amending as necessary to maximise sales
  • Reviewing trading reports and acting on findings
  • Suggest offers and promotional activity to drive sales
  • Working closely with the Online Merchandisers and Brand Managers to devise and implement strategies to increase sales & profit
  • Working closely with Marketing and Online Merchandisers to review key landing pages and optimising these to maximise the sales opportunity
  • Make recommendations for additions and deletions to the product range
  • Making sure we are offering the right product at the right price in the right territory
  • Working with the marketing department to ensure that the right products are promoted and communicated


Skills & Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in an e-commerce merchandising role is essential
  • A good understanding of how online shopping works/ the customer journey
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Strong trading mentality with excellent forecasting and stock management skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Commercial in thinking
  • Excellent communication skills
