Reporting to the Managing Director and integral to the Senior Management Team, the role is responsible for managing and implementing Purchasing, Supply Chain and Material Control strategies in a professional and commercially focused function. Using best practice principles, you will ensure that both commodity and service purchasing achieves quality, cost and delivery targets, in line with sales and operational planning expectations.
The position requires significant proven experience in global Purchasing and Materials within a lean manufacturing environment, with previous responsibility for the procurement and supply chain of a wide variety of engineering materials. Strong negotiation skills and effective management skills in developing Buyers and Material Specialists and improving functional efficiency are a requirement - as is the proficiency in the use and implementation of World Class Material systems.
Degree educated and preferably professionally qualified, with extremely robust commercial and technical experience within a medium or large manufacturing/engineering business.
You will be expected to drive efficiencies and value-added activity throughout the group and implement latest best practice. You will lead a hands-on role in the management of the purchasing function and effectively provide guidance, leadership and training.
You will be commercially, strategically and operationally effective.
