Role Profile
Our client, a global supplier, is looking to appoint a Junior Buyer to join their team based in Manchester. Reporting into the Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for the effective and profitable sourcing of pharmaceuticals for the UK as well as international markets. This will be achieved through skilled management of the supply base to ensure the most appropriate products are selected from the most appropriate suppliers, the best terms are achieved for the business, and the product availability is maximised. You will be an inquisitive, fast-learner who has previous buying experience, preferably in pharma or wholesale. More importantly, you will be a team player with strong work ethic and a positive attitude. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage cost of goods and payment terms for all products/suppliers, ensuring best terms are obtained for the business
  • stock within allocated categories to deliver optimum levels required to maintain good product availability, whilst minimising slow moving stock and overstocks
  • Obtain quotes and required information, and research thoroughly all options for new product requests
  • Build new, and manage and nurture existing supplier relationships to ensure the best outcomes for the business
  • Place Purchase Orders in accordance with agreed stock policies
  • Manage outstanding supplier orders and shipments
  • Analyse and review data in relation to availability, stockholding and supplier lead times for countries, and take action where required to resolve issues
  • Regularly review cost prices, ensuring most profitable outcome is achieved for the business
  • Source new products in conjunction with the Product Research team
  • Resolve any order discrepancies in conjunction with the Finance or Quality teams
  • Management of the quality, cost and delivery performance of allocated suppliers
  • Maintenance of supplier and product data in company systems and databases

Skills & Experience

  • Buying experience in pharma or wholesale is essential
  • Educated to A Level standard with GCSEs Grade C passes, to include English & Maths or equivalent
  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills
  • High level of computer literacy, to include all main Microsoft Office packages
  • Ability to work under pressure; and to tight schedules
  • Strong organisational and administration skills
  • Foreign languages would be advantageous
