Role Profile

Our client, one of UK's leading high street retailers, is looking to appoint a Senior Assistant Merchandiser to join their expanding head office team based West Yorkshire. Working one-to-one with the Head of Merchandising, you will be a numerical and confident individual, keen to take on more responsibilities and progress. This position will ideally suit an established Merchandise Assistant/ Assistant Merchandiser looking to take the next step up. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven and enthusiastic individual who understands supply chain to join a hugely successful and recognisable high street retail business with plenty of opportunity to develop and progress. The ideal candidate will enjoy working within a dynamic and fun environment and be up for a laugh!


  • Maintain line cards, reforecasting sales, reviewing of order book to ensure closing stocks are in line with sales performance
  • Liaise with the QC depts. and Far East office on a daily basis
  • Take part in the product selection and review processes
  • Supply buyers with shopping lists for FE trips based on current performance
  • Confidently discuss current trade, and highlight forward projections/plans
  • Work hand in hand with the warehouse and ensure that intake/stock builds are in line and not over capacity
  • Highlight potential markdown sku's and exit strategy
  • Highlight lines to allocate, and follow through on the system to maximise sales potentials
  • Insertion of POs on to system
  • Produce daily/weekly sales reports for analysis
  • Great understanding of importing stock, commodity codes, freight charges, VAT, BIM% etc. using costing model
  • Liaising with shipping team on best routes to UK
  • Hands on with admin of the dept. due to extremely small buying team
  • Liaise with stores/area managers on current situation in stores to gain an understanding on how we can improve

Skills & Personal Attributes

  • Experience in a similar role with some of the above responsibilities is essential
  • Merchandising experience in a retail setting is preferred
  • WSSI knowledge is beneficial but not essential
  • Exceptional excel & numerical skills
  • Friendly but strong personality and a willingness to get stuck in
  • SAP system knowledge beneficial but not essential
  • Organised
  • Team player
