My client, a leading design-led Womenswear retailer, is looking to appoint a capable and confident Junior Merchandiser to join their head office team based in London. Reporting into the Merchandiser, you will play a key part in the merchandising function of the business. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and commercially aware Senior Assistant Merchandiser who is looking for the next step and the chance to work for an exciting brand with lots of scope for development!
Responsibilities
- Plan and trade a department alongside a buyer and designer, overseen by a senior merchandising member
- Analyse past seasons for future strategy
- Use analysis to support any trade recommendations and proposals
- Together with a buyer and designer present season strategy to Senior management
- Manage and present monthly spend considering history and KPIs
- Maximise profit and limit risk by reacting to current trade and trends
- Understand the need for mark up, mark down and promotions to drive trade where necessary
- A good relationship with department suppliers and their contribution
- Develop sourcing strategies with buyer for the seasons trading
- Know who the customer is as well as own department customer which is at the forefront when building a range
- Regular store visits to maintain customer awareness and keep to date with latest VM edit
- Know the brands competitors and keep up to date on their activity
- Have a good understanding of the company performance as well as own department
- Confident in using and reading a WSSI
- Plan and manage stock and intake to ensure sales plans are met and newness injected into the range in line with company themes
- Train and develop a team.
- Can manage and balance workload within the team to ensure all deadlines are met.
Skills & Experience
- Currently working as an experienced Assistant Merchandiser/Junior Merchandiser
- Experience working in a fast-paced retail business with a large number of options
- Fashion experience would be desirable
- Understand the key dynamics of WSSI
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Experience of managing junior members of the team
- Passionate, confident and dynamic
- Ability to work to deadlines
- Strong commercial awareness
- Strong communication and organisation skills
- Motivated, with the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
