Role Profile
Our client, who is a growing logistics business, are looking to recruit an experienced Logistics Manager to join the team in Nottingham. You will have an experience in operations and a good understanding of the waste haulage industry. Reporting into the Logistics Director you will have a strong focus on delivering excellent customer service.
Normal working hours are 45 hours per week Mon to Friday, with additional hours as required to maintain the safe and efficient running of the transport based at the Nottingham site.
The role is to lead and ensure a safe and commercially driven approach to the fleet operation that is ran in Nottingham & Leicester, ensuring that the business is achieving their highest possible service levels whilst remaining commercially agile and productivity focussed.
Key Accountabilities:
- Manage the day to day Logistics operation across the Nottingham depot
- Manage driver availability and coverage in line with legislation and company procedures to ensure that there is always suitable coverage
- Maintain positive relationships with both internal and external customers
- Supports the optimisation of resources and reviews the operations to support improve profitability and customer service
- Promotes positive employee engagement through open communication
- Contributes to the development of the site as a whole by identifying and sharing best practice with peers
- Monitors operational staff performance and suggests corrective action where appropriate
- Maintain adherence to the relevant legislative requirements and Company procedures and standards (including Health and Safety, personnel, finance and Transport)
- Will be required to conduct accident/incident investigations
- Ensure compliance with transport and environmental legislation
- Effective and detailed management of the P&L to enable production of accurate weekly forecasts
Skills & Experience
- Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Haulage (CPC)
- Experience of a position of similar responsibility in services or logistics industry
- Knowledge of existing and impending environmental and health and safety legislation environment
- Experience of managing in a labour intensive, multi-shift environment
- Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of working within a time
- Good verbal and written communication skillsAbility to communicate at all levels of the business
- Planning and organisational skills & ability to prioritise
- Leadership skills
- Implementation & change management
