Merchandise Manager
Greater Manchester

Role Profile
My client, a rapidly growing home textiles supplier in the business to business sector, is looking to recruit a Merchandise Manager to join their head office team based on the outskirts of Manchester. You will provide leadership and direction to a small team, manage all aspects of stock control, ordering and replenishment and supplier management, which will enable the company to deliver a service that is second to none. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced merchandising professional with the ability to work at a fast pace in a high volume environment to join a rapidly growing, dynamic organisation which is the largest in its sector with accelerated plans for further growth.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Critical path management: Managing the major aspects of the supply chain critical path including merchandise, stock control, QC and remote offshore offices
  • Availability analysis & forecasting: Create and track forecasts for new lines, whilst monitoring stock levels and ensuring availability for customers
  • Forecasting sales at category/line level
  • Working cross departmental particularly with the buying & operations, finance and sales, advising details of future plans and requirements
  • Proposing and delivering against sales, & stock targets
  • Encourage department to move to the next level, ensuring all departments work closely together
  • Planning discount & markdown activity to ensure optimum sell through
  • Working with the buying teams to support and facilitate new product development whilst maintaining range planning techniques to control width, depth, structure of range
  • Managing the teams to ensure the right stock is in the right place, at the right time
  • Produce and analyse reports: to maintain economic stock levels according to the business objectives
  • Working with the management team to set up open to buy control - ensuring stock purchase is in line with sales projection
  • Supplier management: working with the buyers to ensure suppliers are consistently meeting business expectations and growing alongside the business
  • Some travel to India, China etc. may be required throughout the year



Skills & Experience

  • You must have worked in a KPI oriented business
  • Experience of working and liaising with factories (Far East)
  • Critical path management
  • Commercially aware with an in-depth understanding of the merchandising process
  • Experience of service measurement
  • Exceptional team leading/ management experience
  • Analytical skills, especially of sales and margin
  • Excellent organisational skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Ability to adapt, learn quickly and work under pressure
  • Excellent IT/ Excel skills
  • Good communication skills to work with internal customers/ international suppliers
  • Happy to help attitude
