Role Profile
Our client, a well-established textiles business, is looking to appoint a Merchandiser to join their UK team based in West Yorkshire where you will report into their passionate and dedicated Head of Merchandising. This well-respected business supplies some of the UK's largest retailers including Asda, Matalan, Argos, Carpet Right, JD Williams, Sports Direct and Dunnes. Due to expansion, the business is moving into brand new larger offices and are keen to employ a bright and enthusiastic Merchandiser to join their close-knit and friendly team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a retail environment and be eager to perform in a hands-on role working closely with the designers and warehouse. This is a fantastic opportunity for a self-motivated, self-starter who can demonstrate initiative and drive, to join a growing business where you will be working on a number of key retail accounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurate forecasting of stock within the designated product range based on business trend analysis and research
  • Agreeing estimates for new launches of products with retailers to ensure that all items are received in time
  • Regularly communicating internally to clarify priority products for shipment and where required tracking until delivered, where crucial delivery dates apply
  • Working as part of a team to ensure that all deliveries arrive at the specified time, being fully aware of any delays or stock shortages. Liaising with customers as and when required
  • Keeping up to date with all reports requiring completion including retailer stock reports, comments reports, at risk reports, new range forms and sales reports

Skills & Experience

  • Proven track-record as a Merchandiser with Retail experience
  • Worked within an Import and Container Utilisation environment with demonstrable experience across the entire supply chain
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to make strategic decisions and have the confidence to back your judgement - there is significant customer exposure with this role and you must be comfortable with face to face client interactions
  • A high degree of personal and departmental organisational skills, be analytical, emotionally intelligent, and able to multi-task with the ability to deliver to critical deadlines and KPIs
  • Natural communication skills, a high level of personal authority, be able to fluently express yourself both verbally and in writing and thrive on taking responsibility and being accountable
  • Experience of working with IT systems, be highly numerate, have advanced Excel and Tracker skills and will have worked with Warehouse Management, Stock Control and Bespoke systems
