Role Profile
Our client, a leading clothing supplier, is looking to appoint a Merchandiser to join their down to earth, friendly and growing team based in South Manchester. Reporting into the Category Manager, you will assist in delivering sales and margin targets for your chosen categories, driving revenue growth and maintaining a well-balanced stock file. You will take ownership of your category sales and margin forecasting/budgets ensuring category level forecasts are accurately allocated down to style and SKU level. You will be an energetic and switched on individual, currently working at Merchandise Assistant/ Assistant Merchandiser level within an online fashion retailer, supporting a Buyer to develop ranges. This is a brilliant opportunity for a driven and enthusiastic individual to join an established business who pride themselves on the long-standing relationships they have with customers across the high street and with some of the world's biggest brands. Going through an exciting period of change and growth, the business has recently moved into brand new offices and you will have the opportunity to drive forward your own progression as the business continues to expand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build product category sales and margin budgets that are aligned to the divisional sales budgets
  • Develop KPI reports such as a product category trading report, stock availability report and hit rate reports
  • Provide objective sales and margin insight to the Category Manager for all new range builds
  • Manage and develop a quarterly product level forecasting process in close collaboration with the Supply Chain team
  • Develop, maintain and effectively execute critical paths for all new range launches
  • Proactively manage your stock file driving clearance of high cover styles and maintain stock availability on bestselling styles
  • Monitor and review category sales and margin performance
  • Communicate daily, weekly and monthly performance against KPIs, (sales, margin, availability, stock cover)
  • Attend and contribute to the weekly new product development / critical path meetings
  • Identify potential out of stocks and proactively take the appropriate actions to mitigate these out of stocks
  • Complete category sales and margin performance reviews for each new range development
  • Identify seasonal trends in your categories and plan stock build to maximise the sales potential of each category
  • Measure and communicate the performance of new product launches

Skills & Experience

  • Currently working for an online fashion retailer, supporting a buyer to develop a range, in an entry level or above merchandising role
  • Self-motivated, resilient and tenacious with a strong work ethic and eagerness to learn
  • Highly organised with excellent time management skills
  • Commercially astute balanced with creativity
  • Solutions focused with ability to think on feet
