Role Profile
Our client, a leading fashion retailer based in the North West, is looking to appoint an experienced and talented Merchandiser to lead one of the largest departments in the business. Reporting into the Merchandise Manager and working closely with the Head of Merchandising, you will play a pivotal role in fully understanding and creating end to end business processes whilst guiding the Merchandising team to efficiently maximise commercial opportunities throughout the store network and online. You will lead from the front, ensuring the effective management of inventory, driving sales through improved availability and knowledgeable distribution, forecasting and reducing mark down to maximise profit. You will be an established Merchandiser, currently working in a fast-paced trading environment, eager to take on a larger and more demanding role. This is a fantastic opportunity for confident, analytical and highly driven individual to join a well-known retailer with development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing a weekly summary of KPI's for departments of responsibility and the wider business, relating to sales, stock, profit, versus budget and last year
- Managing intake flow into business to hit monthly forecasts, driving sales and minimising risks and communicate to DC for short-term work flow planning and long-term budgeting
- Providing weekly trading actions to optimise department sales and margin
- Maintaining WSSI forecasts
- Work with the team to control branch inventory levels, allocations and replenishment
- Providing analysis and summary of markdown and promotional activity for departments of responsibility and the wider business
- Ensuring mark downs are on the system in line with the mark down calendar
- Creating seasonal markdown planning documents and collating total departments proposals for review with the Head of Merchandising versus financial targets
- Creating quarterly / seasonal range plans in conjunction with the buyers
- Creating, with the Head of Merchandising, a top line quarterly / seasonal strategy relating to all KPI's
- Providing historical analysis to develop quarterly / seasonal planning forecasts for departments of responsibility
- Raising all plans into a WSSI, managing the OTB / phasing of stock to optimise profitability
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with brand partners
Skills, Experience & Attributes
- Currently working at Junior Merchandiser level or above in a fast-paced retailer
- Advanced planning skills and experience
- Fashion Merchandising & core, bricks and mortar experience is preferred
- Experience managing and developing a team
- Confident in suggesting calculated risks
- Store experience would be beneficial
- Strong IT skills, particularly Excel
- Ability to keep calm under pressure and make decisions with good judgement
- Passion for product and the brand
- Entrepreneurial, driven and confident
- Highly organised and methodical
