Role Profile
After a hugely successful 2018, our client, a market leading retail business based in the North West, is looking to appoint a highly driven Merchandiser with strong planning skills to join their growing head office team. Reporting into the Merchandise Manager, this is a demanding yet rewarding role which is heavily planning based, where you will have responsibility for a high-volume workload / large turnover category. Your passion for product and determination to drive forward your area of the business will be key to your success in this role. This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious, resilient Merchandiser with a strong background in core merchandising, to join a rapidly growing retailer that can offer further development opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Review weekly trading performance/ KPI's, identifying issues and actions for the weekly trading meetings
- With the Buyer, propose and agree actions to recover risk and maximise opportunities at category and line level
- Managing the range plan
- Create and manage/monitor sell out dates against all products
- Manage intake at category and line level
- Review previous seasons with the Buyer
- Create the strategy for the department with the Buyer
- Approve the proposed grading for input into the assortment planning process
- Quarterly plan at category/season level with the Buyer that reflects the best possible mix of product to deliver the KPI's
- Formulate range plan at store level in conjunction with the Buyer
- Attend selection/pre-selection meetings with the Buyer and suppliers
- Overview the ratios for all buys in conjunction with Assistant merchandiser
Skills, Experience & Personal Attributes
- Core, bricks and mortar retail merchandising experience is essential
- Currently working at established Junior Merchandiser or Merchandiser level in order to hit the ground running
- Fashion experience is desirable but not essential
- Highly skilled in merchandise planning and forecasting
- Ability to manage a high-volume workload
- Track record of making commercial business decisions/ driving department growth
- Passionate about product
- Understanding of how stores differ/ how to trade them
- Reactive
- Hardworking and resilient
- Ability to communicate at all levels
- Strong numerical/ analytical/ IT skills
