Procurement Manager - Pharmaceutical / Healthcare

£50,000 - £65,000 + Excellent Benefits

Watford, Hertfordshire

Role Profile

Accountable for the performance of procurement category management / sourcing within including savings delivered, value generated, QSIC (Quality, Service, Innovation, Cost reduction) improvements, stakeholder satisfaction, demand management and visibility.

The Procurement Manager will have responsibility for the interface with an outsourced procurement service, and will manage the flow of information and setting of required business standards.

In time, they may also have management responsibility for a small team of Sourcing Managers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Category Strategy Development - Define (and keep up-to-date) a category strategy and plan for areas of managed spend (currently £120m)

  • Sourcing Projects - Identify opportunities for sourcing that deliver tangible benefits. Manage Sourcing Managers (future). Ensure compliance to EU procurement legislation.

  • Stakeholder Management - Implement and lead category / team level stakeholder engagement plans with clear objectives and measurable outcomes.

  • Supplier Relationship Management - Build Supplier Relationship Management plans with tangible benefits (savings and process) identified and delivered.

  • Contract Management - Manage the basic processes of in-contract performance measurement and management, continuous / value improvements and relationship management

  • Negotiation - Demonstrate a track record in leading complex or challenging negotiations.

  • Managing People - Structure and manage the work of site wide multiple project team members and more junior staff well.

Skills & Experience

  • Substantial experience of strategic sourcing in a multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Proven track record of delivering cost savings, cost efficiencies.
  • Extensive experience adapting commercial terms to the benefit of the client
  • Excellent and demonstrable experience of creating and managing complex category plans
  • Stakeholder engagement within a challenging environment
