Role Profile
Our client, a leading retailer, is looking to appoint a Supply Chain Imports Co-ordinator to a newly created role within the growing business. Reporting into the Supply Chain Manager and working closely with the Merchandising team, you will assist in managing the logistics of importing goods from countries including Turkey, China, Pakistan, Portugal, India and Spain, into the warehouse, maximising commercial opportunities whilst minimising costs. You will play a key role in managing the freight process, ensuring all shipments are delivered successfully. The supply chain function is fairly new to the business, therefore they are looking for someone who is confident in sharing ideas to help improve the business processes to help drive further growth. This is a fantastic opportunity for a process driven individual with some relevant experience, to join a sociable and lively team who are proud to work for a well-recognised and successful high street retailer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the import process from end to end, from factories to the warehouse
  • Reviewing production progress through the critical path with the supply base
  • Liaising with freight forwarders
  • Consolidating shipping of products from multiple factories
  • Liaising with Merchandising and Wholesale, communicating any changes to planned shipments
  • Setting up and managing a document filing system
  • Understanding financial documents, working with Accounts to manage payments and invoices
  • Managing deliveries in accordance with the warehouse capacity

Skills & Experience

  • Some experience in Imports / air, sea and road logistics is essential
  • Knowledge of shipping documents and financial terms; BL's, ATR's, LC's etc.
  • Strong IT skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Highly organised and process driven
  • Confident, able to build strong internal and external relationships
  • Sociable and outgoing
  • Eager to contribute ideas
  • Team player also able to work on own initiative
