Transport Senior First Line Manager
North West (Lancashire)
Circa £35,000 + Bonus + Benefits

Role Profile
Our client, who is a, well established Home Delivery Service, has an immediate requirement for a Transport Senior FLM. Reporting to the Transport Manager the successful candidate will manage Driver Performance ensuring all interfaces with the client's supply chain are met, creating a 'best in class' customer focused operation. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Working with the transport management team to ensure the control and monitoring of driver and legal compliance.
  • Ensure the effective planning and utilisation of a fleet of circa 70 vehicles.
  • Maintain systems and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • To ensure Transport (Drivers) is compliant with all aspects of health and safety legislation (working closely with the compliance officer)
  • Overlook the planning to maximise vehicle utilisation
  • Manage the drivers to ensure all customer requirements and Legal requirements are achieved
  • Monitor the shipment screen
  • Control costs
  • Control goods out area/loading and all are recorded
  • Ensure legal compliance for VOSA, WTD and Tachograph legislation& Operators Licence
  • Make sure all deliveries are booked in
  • Fleet servicing and maintenance
  • Authorise outside carrier invoices
  • Produce KPI`S to companies requirements
  • Control drivers and transport office holidays
  • Management responsibility for all drivers
  • To plan transport budget for the finance department
  • Strict compliance with off-hiring and de-hiring of vehicles
  • Direct report of 6 FLM's and circa 100 staff
  • Ensure the effective and timely de-briefing of all drivers.
  • Working collaboratively to identify interventions that can drive improvements through the operation
  • Ensure the effective planning and utilisation of a fleet of circa 70 vehicles.

Skills & Experience
You will be an experienced Transport Shift FLM, ideally possessing a CPC (not essential). You must have vast experience with the management of strict policy processes and excellent man-management skills. You must have experience with financial reporting and strict legal compliance. MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE DEALING WITH UNIONS, IN UNIONISED ENVIRONMENT.
