Salary: £55,000 (DOE) Bonus

The Opportunity
We are working with a well-established manufacturing business in Oldham to recruit an Production Supervisor to take full ownership of the day-to-day running and performance of a key production line.
This is a highly visible, hands-on supervisory position for someone who enjoys being on the shop floor, leading from the front and using data to drive improvements. You will be responsible for ensuring the line operates safely, efficiently and to plan, while taking ownership of Continuous Improvement activity and ensuring improvements are sustained long after implementation.
The role will oversee multiple areas of the operation, including Saw, Deburring & Grooving, Welding and Quality Control, acting as the key point of accountability between the production team, operators, engineering and Continuous Improvement leadership.
A key measure of success will be driving the line towards an 85% OEE target, alongside strong performance across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full day-to-day ownership of the production line and its performance.
- Lead daily SQDCP (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost & People) meetings and ensure actions are followed through.
- Monitor OEE, downtime and production performance, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Drive the line towards an 85% OEE target, using data and structured problem-solving techniques.
- Lead and sustain 5S, Continuous Improvement and Autonomous Maintenance initiatives across the production areas.
- Develop, implement and maintain SOPs, risk assessments and standardised working practices.
- Conduct regular layered audits to ensure standards are being maintained on the shop floor.
- Investigate recurring quality, production and downtime issues using techniques such as 5 Why and A3 problem solving.
- Ensure production plans and output targets are achieved.
- Work closely with Production Planning, Engineering, Quality and other internal teams to ensure the line has the resources and materials required.
- Monitor raw material availability and ensure production runs are properly prepared.
- Maintain accurate production, OEE, downtime and SQDCP reporting.
- Take ownership of shift handovers, production documentation and visual management boards.
- Support the implementation and ongoing use of production monitoring systems.
- Lead, coach and develop operators, maintaining the team skills matrix and identifying training requirements.
- Manage day-to-day attendance, holiday and absence requirements within the team.
- Encourage employee engagement and continuous improvement through a visible suggestion/kaizen process.
- Escalate significant safety, quality, delivery or performance issues promptly and ensure actions have clear ownership and deadlines.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Production Supervisor, Manufacturing Supervisor, Production Team Leader or similar who is comfortable taking ownership of a busy production environment.
You will be someone who:
- Has experience supervising people within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Is confident working with KPIs, OEE and production performance data.
- Has a strong understanding of Continuous Improvement, 5S and Lean manufacturing principles.
- Takes a proactive approach to health & safety and quality.
- Is comfortable carrying out root-cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Leads from the shop floor and is highly visible and engaged with operators.
- Has strong organisational and communication skills.
- Can hold people accountable while maintaining a positive and collaborative team environment.
- Is comfortable managing multiple priorities and driving actions through to completion.
- Has a structured approach and takes pride in maintaining standards.
- Is motivated by measurable improvements rather than simply completing tasks.
