Role Profile

Our client, a market leading fashion retailer, is looking to appoint a Merchandiser or Senior Merchandiser to join their growing head office team based in the North West of England. Reporting into the Merchandise Manager, this is a demanding yet rewarding role that is heavily planning based where you will have responsibility for a high-volume workload / large turnover category. Your passion for product and determination to drive forward your area of the business will be key to your success in this role. This is a unique opportunity for a driven, quick thinking and resilient Merchandiser / Senior Merchandiser, keen to step into a larger role within a fast-paced organisation, to join a well known retailer with development opportunities.


  • Review weekly trading performance/ KPI's, identifying issues and actions for the weekly trading meetings
  • With the Buyer, propose and agree actions to recover risk and maximise opportunities at category and line level
  • Managing the range plan
  • Create and manage/monitor sell out dates against all products
  • Manage intake at category and line level
  • Review previous seasons with the Buyer
  • Create the strategy for the department with the Buyer
  • Approve the proposed grading for input into the assortment planning process
  • Quarterly plan at category/season level with the Buyer that reflects the best possible mix of product to deliver the KPI's
  • Formulate range plan at store level in conjunction with the Buyer
  • Attend selection/pre-selection meetings with the Buyer and suppliers
  • Overview the ratios for all buys in conjunction with Assistant merchandiser

Skills, Experience & Personal Attributes

  • Core, bricks and mortar retail merchandising experience is essential
  • Currently working as an established Merchandiser or above
  • Fashion experience is desirable but not essential
  • Highly skilled in merchandise planning and forecasting
  • Ability to manage a high-volume workload
  • Track record of making commercial business decisions/ driving department growth
  • Passionate about product
  • Strong trading mentality
  • Reactive
  • Hardworking and resilient
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Strong numerical/ analytical/ IT skills
