Role Profile

Our client, a successful Chemicals business in the Manchester area, is looking to appoint a Strategic Buyer to manage their raw material spend.

Key responsibilities for this strategic sourcing role will include:

  • Conducting tenders and negotiations with key suppliers
  • Implementing robust contractual agreements with suppliers
  • Delivering savings and cost downs to the business
  • Managing supplier performance and driving improvements across the supply chain to add value
  • Taking robust procurement decisions to ensure future material availability and supply

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Proven procurement experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience of sourcing chemicals and managing this commodity
  • Strong negotiation and commercial skills
  • Proven track record in cost downs and savings
  • Confidence to manage suppliers and drive improvements
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong stakeholder management skills

CIPS qualification would be highly advantageous.
