Role Profile

Cast UK are engaged in recruiting a strategic and forward-thinking Head of Distribution for a growing business based in South London.

The Head of Distribution will lead the Transport and Logistics departments in driving forward the ambitious growth strategy for our customer. You will be responsible for managing a dedicated team, overseeing the department budget, and formulating a 3-year Transport strategy to align with business growth objectives. Your leadership will be instrumental in fostering a growth mindset within the team and ensuring they are engaged and motivated to help achieve the vision.

The role will be based in South London and will require travel across the network as required so you will need to be able to travel across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop a comprehensive 3-year Transport strategy that aligns with ambitious growth targets of the business.
• Collaborate closely with the Finance team to manage the Transport department budget effectively.
• Effective resource planning to ensure the department is adequately staffed to meet customer service needs through a strong recruitment and onboarding process.
• Prioritise and foster a safe working environment for all department members, ensuring strict adherence to regulations.
• Drive and implement continuous improvement initiatives across the Distribution network, identifying opportunities to streamline & improve operations.
• Ensure orders are delivered on time, meeting quality standards, and staying within budget.
• Work closely with the Finance team to lead the vehicle replacement program and ensure the fleet is fit for purpose and reflects the growth of the business.
• Drive the sustainable agenda within the Transport department to help achieve net-zero targets.
• Provide concise and relevant reporting of department performance and KPIs to the company's Board of Directors.
• Develop a comprehensive training program for the department to enhance team capabilities.
• Manage partnership relationships with select group of 3PL's, ensuring efficient collaboration and making sure SLA's are achieved and exceeded.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience working at a strategic level in transport & logistics.
• Experience within chilled and multi-temp environments is required.
• Knowledge of multi-drop distribution is essential.
• Strong leadership and team management skills to inspire, mentor and develop the team.
• Financial acumen with proven experience managing multi-million pound transport budgets.
• A commitment to safety and sustainability.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills, including management of 3PL partners.
• Demonstrable experience in identifying and implementing CI opportunities across the distribution network.
