Role Profile

Bunzl Retail Supplies is the leading distributor of disposables, packaging and hygiene solutions to the retail sector in the UK. Delivering to a variety of customers in both the private and public sector from large retail businesses to independent retail businesses

Cast UK is delighted to be exclusively recruiting a Head of Operations for their 231,000 square foot prestigious facility in Burton Latimer. Since the new site began operating, the business has gone through considerable growth which has been achieved by developing both its existing customer base and attracting new customers.

Leading the day-to-day operation on site, the Head of Operations will be directly supporting the Operations Director by delivering operational & service excellence and delivering operational projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • To support the Operations Director by delivering operational & service excellence and delivering operational projects.
  • To oversee the running of the BRS operations on a day-to-day basis in conjunction with the site management team.
  • Collaborating with all departments to ensure we maximise customer profitability and service levels through KPI, cost management and lean processes.
  • Reviewing current operational practices and identifying areas requiring improvement as well as leading in the process of refining existing and implementing new processes.
  • Identify opportunities and deliver improved operational efficiencies whilst reducing operating costs
  • Design, implement and maintain a robust set of standard operating procedures
  • Analysis of current processes and identify areas where improvement is required
  • Management of the operational budget for Burton Latimer
  • Collaboration with the BRS Agecroft site to ensure one way of working across the BRS operations
  • Leadership of the Warehouse Operations team
  • Create an environment of continuous improvement & learning
  • Reduce the number of accidents through increased H&S initiatives & improved behaviours
  • Contingency cover and succession planning for key roles to ensure a clear progression pipeline and business continuity
  • Ensure operations team are engaged with a clear communication plan that includes regular 1-2-1s and team meetings
  • Ensure compliance to process in line with process & company handbook
  • Operate to expectations outlined within KPI's and report performance accordingly
  • Deliver exceptional levels of service to our customers, internal & external

Skills & Experience Required

  • Must have experience in managing and leading busy & complex operations more than 150,000 square foot
  • Proven track record of leading, managing and motivating large operational teams
  • Strong financial & budgeting capability / compliance
  • Lean Qualification desirable
