Bunzl Distribution Services are delighted to be recruiting a Health, Safety and Environmental Manager for their 231,000 square foot facility in Burton Latimer. Since the new site began operating, the business has gone through considerable growth which has been achieved by developing both their existing customer base and attracting new customers.

Bunzl Distribution Services are part of the FTSE100 listed Bunzl Plc and service their Bunzl partners, Bunzl Retail Supplies, Woodway UK and Lightning Packaging Supplies.

Leading the day to day EHS on site, the Health, Safety and Environmental Manager will be responsible for assuring the effective functioning of a facility to provide an efficient and safe working environment for employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for investigating Health and Safety Accidents/ near misses within the Company.
  • To provide on a monthly basis Health and Safety Stats (Lost Time Accidents/ RIDDOR) to the Management Team.
  • To make recommendations on how to reduce accidents and incidents in the workplace.
  • To analyse Employer Liability Claims and to make recommendations.
  • To advise on HSE training requirements with the Operations Trainer to deliver "Tool Box" talks.
  • To ensure that all are required H & S data is inputted into the BGS system.
  • Promoting a culture of safety within the workplace, which will enhance EHS standards and awareness e.g. campaigns, awards, competitions.
  • Maintain HSE policies and procedures and ensure that all managers, supervisors, and staff are fully trained and comply with both statutory and corporate requirements.
  • Advise management team on the appropriate interpretation and likely impact of developments in legislation and best practice.
  • Direct management of training with relation to all Manual Handling Equipment.
  • Co-ordinate the provision of HSE input to new capital projects and refurbishment programmes.
  • To ensure that recycling and landfill data is entered into the BGS and reported to the Management Team on a monthly basis.
  • To manage COSHH and legislation relating to Dangerous Goods Notes.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Must have experience of managing EHS in a busy & complex operations in excess of 150,000 square foot
  • Minimum of 5 years experience within a EHS position
  • ISO 14001 knowledge
  • Would provide study support for the right candidate
