Cast UK are supporting a well-established manufacturing company with the recruitment process for a Logistics Manager to plan back haulage collections for our Nelson location. We pride ourselves on being efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly.
As the Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for locating, planning, coordinating, and executing the backhaul operations for the company. Liaising daily with the Transport Manager to maximize the utilization of company assets to ensure all backhaul opportunities are identified and fulfilled and that the routes are planned in the most efficient manner possible.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate all backhaul operations for the company
- Identify and prioritize backhaul opportunities to maximize asset utilization
- Work closely with the operations team to coordinate the planned routes
- Methodical approach to problem solving and attention to detail
- Analyse data and provide recommendations to improve backhaul efficiency and profitability
- Ability to produce clear, precise and coherent analysis reports
- Maintain acute records of backhaul operations
- Route planning and communication with hauliers and customers where required
Requirements:
- At least 2 years of experience in backhaul and planning logistics
- Excellent people organisational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong negotiation skills
- Good IT skills and Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Previous experience using TMS/routing software
- Ability to manage own work load
