Role Profile

My client, an established engineering business in the Stockport area, is looking to appoint a Supplier Quality Engineer.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a successful business with a range of high profile customers and you will play a key part in developing the supplier base in order to ensure they can meet the business' current and future needs.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support supplier evaluation process to select and onboard new suppliers with the required capabilities (cost, quality, capacity)
  • Analyse performance of existing suppliers through scorecards and techniques such as 8D, APQP and FMEA
  • Develop existing supplier base to drive improvements and ensure they have the necessary technical expertise for NPD projects and new product launches
  • Utilise lean techniques and quality tools such as 8D, SPC and FMEA to implement and monitor against continuous improvement plans

Skills & Experience:

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in a supplier facing quality role such as Supplier Quality Engineering or Supplier Development
  • Background in Mechanical Engineering (HNC/HND level qualification as a minimum)
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
  • Proven track record of delivering supplier audits and supplier development plans to drive improvements and increase capability within the supply chain
  • Willingness to undertake regular business travel in the UK
