Technical Buyer

Salary: £30,000-£32,000
Role Profile
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a fantastic company based near Basingstoke. My client is looking for a Buyer who will work strategically and will focus on Supplier relationships and cost savings. The successful candidate will be required to have adequate technical-commercial understanding. It is an excellent opportunity for someone who is wanting to join a fast paced environment and has experienced with the full Purchasing process in an engineering environment.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Issuing RFQs to suppliers and negotiating pricing and commercial terms
- Raising purchase orders for both direct materials, specifically chemicals
- Expediting deliveries to ensure OTIF
- Managing ongoing supplier performance
- Delivering savings through effective negotiation and procurement
- Working closely with suppliers ensuring excellent relationships
- A strong understanding of the commodity
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Experience in an engineering company as a Technical/ Engineering Buyer.
- A good understanding of systems and Excel
- Proven negotiation skills and commercial acumen
- The ability to look at the possible cost saving opportunities
The following may also prove to be an advantage:
- Previous experience in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of high quality and health and safety aspects of commodities
- Knowledge/ understanding of chemicals
- MCIPS or part CIPS qualification
