Cast UK are supporting Cast UK are supporting a company which is one of the UK's leading providers of logistical support and warehousing. The professional team operates from more than seven sites across the country and, with 50 plus vehicles in its fleet, supports a nationwide client base.
As the Transport Operations Manager, you will report directly to the Chief Operations Officer and be responsible for the smooth running of all transport & warehouse operations, manage the growth and success of the team, maintain a high standard of customer service, and ensure continuous improvement across the operation.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the transport and warehouse departments
- Lead and manage a team of junior, supervisory and managerial staff and drivers
- Support the operational team to plan and optimize transportation routes to maximize efficiency, minimize delivery times, and reduce transportation costs.
- Oversee warehouse operations. Establish and maintain processes which ensure efficiency across receiving, storage, order fulfilment, and shipping.
- Ensure compliance with transport regulations, warehouse safety guidelines, and industry standards.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for transport and warehouse operations.
- Manage relationships with customers, monitor service levels, and ensure adherence to agreed-upon terms and conditions.
- Continuously evaluate transport and warehouse processes to identify opportunities for improvement, standardisation, and automation
- Develop and manage budgets for the transport and warehouse departments.
- Oversee system development and improvement across the transport and warehouse departments.
- Promote a professional culture in the workplace by fostering an environment of respect, open communication, and teamwork.
- Overall responsibility for health and safety.
Requirements:
- Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement
- IT literate
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
- Commercial understanding
- Experienced Logistics professional, graduate or with relevant qualifications who will have previously operated at a senior level and preferably have managed a multi-site region
- Demonstrable experience of customer relationship management
- Proven capability of leading a function through significant change
- Experience of driving efficiency savings and business growth
- Good financial and business acumen with experience of managing budgets
- Good project management skills
- Excellent people management skills - driving accountability and delivering results through teams
- CPC Qualified
- Frequent travel required
