Role Profile
Cast UK are supporting our client, who is a leading logistics business, in their recruitment process for a Transport planner, based in Kettering. Reporting to the Transport manager you will take responsibility and accountability for all transport planning activities along with daily transport duties. This will include the use of own fleet, external couriers through to 3rd party articulated vehicles.
Key Accountabilities:
- To maximising fleet utilisation the cubic capacity of each vehicle and completing as many journeys as the working day will allow.
- To ensure planned days are compliant within the Working Time Directive, tachograph legislation and contracted hours.
- To ensure any customer 'booking in' requirements for planned deliveries are communicated to the wider team and adhered to.
- Ensure all PODs are scanned to a document sharing platform that the Business Partner can access and follow agreed protocols from the Business Partner regarding the physical paperwork.
- On completion of the daily planning activities, to generate a load plan of all planned trips which is to be communicated to the correct audience.
- To control all vehicles and deciding which vehicle is best fit for purpose.
- To record any cost incurred through utilisation of 3rd party carriage in the haulier log.
Skills & Experience
- Red Prairie expierence would be advantageous but not essential.
- UK geographic knowledge.
- Knowledge of appropriate legislation and its impact on operation.
- Experience in transport.
