As the exclusive recruitment partner for Bunzl Catering, Cast UK are leading the search for a Transport Planning Manager to be based from their NDC in Tamworth. The ideal candidate for the Transport Planning Manager position will possess a strong foundation in logistics and transport planning, combined with exceptional attention to detail, people skills, and an understanding of export operations.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of transport planner who are responsible for creating daily plans for the multidrop delivery network that spans across 8 despatch locations.
• Collaborate with the team to ensure that all transport plans are meticulously designed to optimise route efficiency, minimise costs, and meet delivery deadlines.
• Hold a strong understanding of geographical factors, traffic patterns, and road networks to create accurate and effective transport plans.
• Utilise and manage transport planning systems and software to streamline planning processes and ensure data accuracy.
• Analyse data and operational requirements to determine the appropriate type and number of vehicles needed for daily delivery schedules.
• Ensure continuous improvement by identifying areas for optimisation within current planning processes and implementing innovative solutions.
• Lead strategic projects aimed at improving overall transport operations, including route optimisation, resource allocation, and technology integration.
• Work alongside other stakeholders in the business, including operations, logistics, and customer service, to ensure seamless execution of transport plans.
• Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of transport planning operations.
• Coach and mentor team members in order to offer professional development opportunities and growth within the organisation.
• Ensure that transport plans align with international shipping requirements when shipping across the borders.

Candidate requirements

• Proven experience within transport planning or a related transport position is desirable.
• A strong geographical knowledge, including an understanding of traffic patterns, road networks and logistical considerations.
• A good understanding of transport planning systems with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Experience of managing a team with logistics or planning.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of transport plans.
• Exceptional engagement and people skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of personnel.

Remuneration

• Competitive salary.
• Monday - Friday working with the opportunity to work from home 2 days per week.
