Role Profile
Our client, a leading retailer, is looking to appoint a number of Assistant Merchandisers to join their lively and supportive head office team based in Greater Manchester. Working on a specific department, you will support the merchandising team to maximise commercial opportunities on your product areas through the effective management of stock intake, driving sales through improved availability and reducing mark down to maximise profit.
You will have experience working as an established Merchandising Assistant or Assistant Merchandiser within a retail head office, with strong numerical, trading and analytical skills. You will be mentoring a Merchandising Assistant in your new role therefore it's important that you can demonstrate confidence and leadership qualities as the business is looking to hire those with long-term potential. Key Responsibilities
- Preparing weekly reports for Monday Trade meetings
- Providing weekly actions to optimise department sales and margins
- Assisting the Merchandiser to manage intake flow into business to hit monthly forecasts, drive sales and minimise risks, communicating with the DC regarding short term workflow planning and longer-term budgeting
- Controlling inventory levels and replenishment as required
- Ensuring all price adjustments are checked and on the system at the correct time
- Ensuring all products landing in the warehouse have the correct Cost and Retail prices and that the margins reflect correctly
- Managing line cards in conjunction with the Merchandiser
- Assisting the Merchandiser by providing information to create Quarterly / Seasonal strategies for departments relating to all KPI's
- Providing historical analysis to develop Quarterly / Seasonal Planning Forecasts for product areas of responsibility
- Creating ratios for all buys
- Ensuring order books are reconciled with suppliers
Skills & Experience
- Experience working at Merchandising Assistant level or above in a retail head office is essential
- Planning, trading and analytical skills
- Strong numerical and IT skills (particularly Microsoft Excel)
- Ability to think on feet and make decisions working within in a fast-paced environment
- Strong commercial and brand awareness with an interest in product
- Professional with excellent communication skills
- Confident, enthusiastic and hungry to learn
- Highly organised, methodical and efficient
