It is likely that you will be required to travel quite extensively in your role, and while this might mean a few counties, it can also mean several countries, so the potential to disrupt family life could be an issue – and relevant language skills could be an advantage. You will need to be a good communicator to ensure the strategic aims of the company’s board are accurately reported and overseen throughout the various locations.

To its north and east are the outlet of the Firth of Forth and the North Sea. The county town is Haddington, and thus the county was called Haddingtonshire until the early 20th century.
East Lothian has great connections to Edinburgh via the A1, A198 coast road and rail links. The county itself is relatively sparsely populated, with around 100,000 populating its 250 square miles (650 sq km) area. It serves mainly as a commuter and agricultural area.
