Regional HR Business Partner Jobs

As companies expand and acquire new businesses, their multi-site operations can create new HR issues that were not present before. Successful growing companies predict these challenges by appointing a regional HR business partner, a managerial position that ensures the HR at the various locations is running to serve the overall aims of the company’s executives.

A degree of autonomy over various sites is generally a good thing if burdensome micromanagement from the board is to be avoided. But this only works if the operational managers at the locations are supervised with a light touch after being appraised of the company’s strategic aims. A regional HR business partner ensures that board level goals are interpreted and divulged to the managers at the various locations to satisfy their specific needs, taking into account what they contribute to the wider company.

The skills required

To be a successful regional HR business partner, you should ideally have a background in applying HR strategy over various geographically connected locations, but most companies will consider candidates who have a great CV that shows extensive HR management experience. Because no two companies are the same, you can expect full training in the specifics of the business, but the experience you bring to the role will be a key consideration, as with all managerial roles.

It is likely that you will be required to travel quite extensively in your role, and while this might mean a few counties, it can also mean several countries, so the potential to disrupt family life could be an issue – and relevant language skills could be an advantage. You will need to be a good communicator to ensure the strategic aims of the company’s board are accurately reported and overseen throughout the various locations.
