Talent acquisition managers are there to ensure that vacancies that open up within a company are filled by candidates who fit like jigsaw pieces into the role. The secret to successful placement is building a talent pipeline that flows smoothly and takes into consideration the company’s strategic plans. By appointing employees based on a methodical and considered process, the talent acquisition manager can secure employees who match the requirements and culture within the business, saving the company recruitment expenses and providing rewarding careers to enthusiastic people.

The skills required

A background in recruitment is a clear advantage for the role. Companies taking the step of creating or maintaining a dedicated talent acquisition manager will not be interested in recruitment experience that does not consider the long-term picture within the company. They want a manager who has the company’s strategic plans in mind when seeking to fill vacancies. To that end, if you can demonstrate the lengths you have gone to to ensure a company’s staffing is optimal, and provide evidence of successful placements and minimal employee churn, you could make a great talent acquisition manager.

Because all sectors are different, it’s possible that experience in the specific sector that the company operates in will be a key requirement of the role. A deep understanding of the sector and how it recruits, plus some great ideas about securing talent in the company could help a person with only junior or HR team management experience to land the job.
