Customs Manager

Job Summary:

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Customs Manager to join a growing team in Normanton. As the Customs Manager you will be responsible for managing a small customs team to ensure that all aspects of customs compliance and processes are compliant with all customs regulations and laws. You will work with your team to ensure that customs procedures are followed correctly and that all documentation is completed accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and maintain customs compliance procedures and processes
  • Ensure that you are fully up to date in relation to ongoing political negotiations and are aware of the current position between the UK and the EU
  • Manage the customs clearance team, ensuring the highest level of service is provided
  • Implement the relevant IT packages and compile, analyse, and interpret relevant data
  • Manage the import and export of goods, ensuring timely and accurate documentation
  • Advise and guide management in all matters relating to the import and export of goods post Brexit, inclusive of all changes to government guidelines/instructions
  • Be responsible for ensuring AEO license, ETSF facility and Bonded Warehouse accreditations are obtained and retained on a permanent basis.
  • Keep up to date with customs regulations and laws
  • Monitor and review customs processes
  • Oversee the induction and training of new team members in accordance with the applicable customs clearance procedures
  • Analyse and report on customs performance
  • Work with customs authorities to ensure compliance with customs regulations and laws

Technical Skills Required:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of customs regulations and laws
  • Excellent understanding of import and export documentation
  • Proficient in the use of customs software
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and be a strong leader
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
