An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join a major logistics operation within the ambient food sector.
This is a large-scale, highly automated warehouse environment undergoing significant operational transformation, and the business is looking for a strong, forward-thinking H&S professional who can take ownership, influence senior leadership and help shape the long-term safety culture of the site.
The Operation
- 100,000 pallet capacity facility
- 1.8 million pallets processed annually
- Large-scale ambient food logistics operation
- Significant automation investment programme
- SAP and WMS implementation projects underway
- AI-driven operational systems being introduced
The Role
Reporting into the central Head of SHEQ, this position offers a high degree of autonomy and the opportunity to become a key figure within the site leadership team.
The foundations and policies are already in place - what's needed now is someone who can take hold of the operation, influence behaviours and drive a proactive, data-led health & safety culture across the business.
This role is not suited to someone newly qualified. The business is looking for a long-term appointment - someone capable of growing with the operation over the next 10-15 years and becoming a trusted leader within the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the site Health & Safety agenda across a busy warehouse operation
- Drive behavioural safety and cultural change across the management team
- Support operational leaders in improving standards and accountability
- Ensure compliance across all H&S procedures and processes
- Use operational data and reporting to identify trends and improvements
- Support automation and operational change projects from a safety perspective
- Build strong working relationships across all functions onsite
- Coach, influence and challenge where required
What We're Looking For
- Proven Health & Safety experience within logistics, warehousing, FMCG or manufacturing
- Strong personality with presence, credibility and the ability to influence others
- Someone proactive who can "grab hold" of a challenging environment
- Strong communication and leadership capability
- Comfortable operating within change and transformation environments
- Computer literate and confident using operational data
- Interest in automation and modern warehousing operations
- NEBOSH qualified or equivalent preferred
- Long-term mindset and ambition to grow within the business
