Role Profile
Our client is a growing privately-owned business, who have recently invested over £2 million into new production equipment and facilities to scale with growth. As a Junior Multi-Skilled Engineer, you will be the first to investigate and tackle problems with strong mentorship from the senior engineer. You will be getting hands-on experience with electronic counting machines, bottle unscramblers, cappers, labellers and associated machinery. Working onsite in the production clean room, you will assist the senior engineers in both preventative and reactive maintenance, fault finding. The role provides a great opportunity to develop both your electrical and mechanical engineering skills on a dedicated pathway.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-line engineering support to production, responding to breakdowns and issues with guidance from the Senior Engineer.
- Conduct preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on site facilities.
- Work on a variety of state-of-the-art equipment, including conveyors, pneumatic systems and electrical components.
- Support the senior engineer with maintenance activities, fault findings and both mechanical and electrical repairs.
- Shadow and support the Senior Engineer during machine set-ups, changeovers, FAT testing and commissioning activities.
- Accurately complete maintenance documentation while adhering to health and safety standards.
- Work closely with Production Shift Managers and Operatives to ensure safe operation and minimal disruption to production activities.
Skills & Experience
- Recently completed an apprenticeship or NVQ (Level 3) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Multi-Skill Discipline.
- Preferably an electrical bias, with a willingness to develop skills in the opposite discipline.
- A solid understanding of PPM and reactive maintenance principles.
- Positive attitude and genuine curiosity towards problem solving.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a wider multi-disciplined team.
- Experience working in FMCG/Food/Pharma would be a benefit.
Training & Development
This role offers a structured and supportive development pathway for a junior engineer looking to build both mechanical and electrical capability. You will receive hands-on mentoring from the senior engineer, support by a training plan, shadowing opportunities and manufacturer training where available.
