Role Profile
Our client is a growing Logistics business with a national network. We are supporting in their recruitment for a Transport Operations Manager. Reporting into the General Manager, you will be responsible for optimising multi-temp distribution operations and ensuring excellent customer service. The role involves leadership of drivers and transport office staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading on driver recruitment and retention strategies. The role is typically Monday to Friday 08:30 - 17:30 but will require flexibility in line with business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Day to day leadership of the Transport office, including driver management and resolving operational challenges
- Lead on driver recruitment and retention strategies
- Ensure strong adherence to all Transport related compliance - including instilling a safety-first culture across the team
- Maintain customer communication, updating with any challenges, issues or delays, and providing proactive solutions
- Labour resource planning, monitoring driver staffing levels, including shift planning and holiday management
- Collaborate with Planning function to optimise delivery routes to drive efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Track daily/weekly/monthly KPI's to senior leadership, and provide recommendations to drive continuous improvement
Key Skills
- Experience working at Transport Manager level, with proven record managing busy Transport offices
- Compliance-focused, candidates must have Transport Manager CPC as will be named on O'License
- Strong knowledge of fleet management and compliance
- Excellent communications skills with ability to influence at all levels
- A background working in multi-temp and/or 3PL environments would be highly desirable
- System-savvy, including experience using various TMS and Excel
