Bunzl Catering Supplies, part of the Bunzl Catering & Hospitality Division, is the leading distributor of disposables, packaging and hygiene solutions to the hospitality and catering sectors in the UK. Delivering to a variety of customers in both the private and public sector from small independent cafe owners, local health trusts and schools to national hotel and restaurant chains.
As the exclusive recruitment partner for Bunzl Catering, Cast UK are leading the search for a Transport Supervisor to be based from their NDC in Tamworth. The incumbent to this role will take responsibility for execution, direction, and coordination of all transportation matters within the branch, whilst managing the Transport Controllers and taking charge of every transportation item. Reporting into the Senior Transport Manager, the Transport Supervisor will be responsible for directing all transportation activities, whilst monitoring all transportation costs. This is an extremely exciting opportunity to work within a fast-paced operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the planning, development and organisation of the transport department.
- Arranging vehicle maintenance, MOTs and relevant Tax information
- Optimise the routes to be the most cost effective available.
- Ensure OTIF ( on time in full ) is met and that all deliveries are executed as per the customer requirements
- Direct the effectiveness of private, third party and contract carriage systems
- Conduct investigations to determine causes of accidents to improve safety procedures
- Advise management team on the interpretation and likely impact of developments in relevant legislation and best practice.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the profit improvement and change management plans
- Contribute to the preparation of management recommendations, such as proposed fee and tariff increases or schedule changes
- Manage fleet profile including numbers and types of vehicles, mileage and running costs in line with business requirements
- Ensuring all PO logs are kept accurate and up to date and able to provide justification for expenditure
- Direct the activities of colleagues in relation to transport operations including dispatching, routing, and tracking
- Ensure that staff comply with policies and procedures, safety rules, and government regulations
Skills & Experience
Candidates are sought who have a passion for operational transport and who have experience of working within a fast-paced transport operation. We are searching for someone who is a perfectionist, capable of recognising areas of improvement and influencing decision making. The correct candidate will be well organised, thorough, enjoy challenging situations and have the persistence to see a job through to conclusion. An understand of digital and analogue Tacographs is essential.
