If you're an aspiring leader with a passion for training, compliance and people then we have the next opportunity for you. As Driver Training & Compliance Manager you will take the lead in improving driver performance, proactively facilitating training initiatives and ensuring compliance across the HGV fleet. Through regular coaching, KPI management and close cooperation with Transport Operations you will play a key part in delivering excellence at every mile. This role is based on-site Monday - Friday 9am-6pm.
Role Profile
Our client is an established SME logistics business, looking to improve driver engagement, quality and safety across the team. You will focus on identifying training needs of the current driver team and delivering training through effective coaching, ensuring all drivers meet the highest standards of operational quality and safety. Working closely with the Fleet Compliance Officer and Driver Assessor you will help deliver training courses to both existing and new drivers to ensure best practise is adhered to. Reporting to the Head of Transport you will prepare insightful updates on driver progress and fleet compliance, using the data to shape decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor individual and team KPI's using data analysis to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Design, deliver and maintain in-house CPC courses to both new and existing drivers.
- Investigate all post-collisions reviews and vehicle defect checks.
- Prepare and deliver Warehouse to Wheels courses for internal colleagues.
- Ensure full compliance with transport legislation and company policy.
- Prepare and deliver progress reports on driver performance.
- Build a positive safety focused culture than promotes development.
- Manage Drug & Alcohol testing for drivers.
- Ensure that all driver license checks are compliant including permanent and agency staff.
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven track record in developing and delivering training initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of fleet compliance, including DVSA requirement, WTD and current transport legislation.
- CPC Holder with an understanding of O-License responsibilities and standards.
- Systems savvy, ideally with experience of using different TMS, Telematics etc.
- Strong communicator with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Proactive safety focused mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
- Previous experience working HGV driver would be strongly preferred.
- Confident in data analysis, being able to make meaningful analysis from telematics data.
- Ability to coach and develop a variety of personality types.
