A leading logistics and transport solutions provider is looking for a Business Development Manager to join its growing UK Retail Sales team. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially driven sales professional to win new business and develop long-term relationships across the UK retail supply chain.
The Role
As a Business Development Manager, you will play a key role in expanding the company's retail logistics network by identifying and securing new suppliers shipping inbound into UK retail distribution centres.
You'll focus on building strong relationships with logistics, procurement and supply chain stakeholders while aligning customer transport requirements with an established inbound retail logistics network. Working closely with internal operations, traffic and procurement teams, you'll ensure new business integrates smoothly with operational capability and capacity.
Key Responsibilities
Generate new business opportunities with suppliers shipping inbound into UK retail distribution centres.
Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline through prospecting, referrals, internal leads and industry networking.
Develop relationships with logistics, supply chain and procurement decision-makers.
Manage the full sales lifecycle from opportunity identification through to agreement, onboarding and operational handover.
Grow existing accounts by increasing transport volumes and identifying opportunities for additional services, including returns logistics and value-added supply chain solutions.
Maintain accurate CRM records and manage pipeline progression to achieve quarterly and annual revenue targets.
About You
3-5 years' experience in B2B sales or business development within logistics, freight brokerage or transport services.
Experience selling transport or logistics solutions into retail or consumer supply chains.
Strong understanding of supplier logistics shipping inbound to UK retail distribution centres.
Proven track record of winning new business and growing accounts.
Commercially minded with excellent relationship building, negotiation and communication skills.
Highly organised, self-motivated and driven to exceed sales targets.
