Role Profile
Our client, a leading online FMCG retailer based in Yorkshire, is looking to appoint a Category Manager to join their growing team. After several years' exceptional growth, the business is expanding the teams further so this is a role you can really put your mark on. They are an exciting northern E-Commerce start-up with global insight who can offer further development opportunities and work with an exciting product every day.
Your new role will involve leading the category to deliver against the core KPI's for the business. This includes range management, managing supplier relationships, managing stock inventory and depletion, running and evaluating promotions, developing new products and categories. All this will lead them to their revenue and profitability goals for the year. The role entails both strategic planning and generating ideas and new categories/brands which will unlock huge aspirations for growth.
Reporting to Head of Buying, the key responsibilities include:
- Owning the KPIs for the category
- Selecting appropriate range, agreeing activity plans and promotions
- Running price reviews and setting a pricing strategy
- Running regular category range reviews and building on data and knowledge to ensure we have the best range
- Full P&L responsibility, improving profitability on the range, and managing mix
- Leading product development of new lines, including gifting
- As we run a small business, to be willing to "roll your sleeves up" and perform any other duties required to make the business a success
Skills & Experience Required:
- Currently working as a Category Manager or Buyer is essential
- Ability to work autonomously with huge appetite for growth
- A great communicator, working multi-functionally
- Highly numerate and commercial, with previous P&L ownership essential
- Data analytics and consumer insight
- Supplier relationship management and negotiation skills
- A passion for Beer or Beer knowledge is a bonus (plus a willingness to learn very quickly!)
- Advantageous if you are a creative thinker, and able to recognise new trends for new Gift ideas
- Occasional travel will be required
