The Role

This role is essential in delivering procurement-based competitive advantages across the Scapa Group for the Substrates, Outsourced and Packaging Category, including:

  • Identification and execution of P&L and working capital savings opportunities
  • Delivery of procurement best practice and processes
  • Strategic Supplier Management
  • New Product Development

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage and implement a Category procurement strategy for the Substrates, Outsourced and Packaging purchases
  • Undertake appropriate market analysis, selection of sourcing strategy, negotiating, contracting and managing supplier relationships
  • Ensure business and site alignment, through proactive engagement with the relevant Site Directors and other key stakeholders
  • Relentlessly and passionately drive through and deliver Year-on-year savings in terms of the Company P&L, net working capital and supply chain optimisation, and the growth through R&D/Innovation
  • Design and implement sustainable supply chains, ensuring continuity of supply and optimisation of lead times, MOQs, inventory and other key supply chain parameters
  • Drive through Procurement best practice, tools and techniques across the Scapa facilities, coaching and developing Site Procurement Managers as appropriate and develop sustainable relationships with the Site Directors and other key stakeholders.

Key Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Proven skills in communication, negotiation and initiative within a Global and Matrix organisation
  • Excellent track record in the development of procurement and supply chain tools, techniques and practices
  • Proven track record delivering results and achieving cost savings and improvements in other supply chain metrics
  • Significant experience of 'hands on' Global sourcing and commodity sourcing

Relevant category experience will also be a distinct advantage:

  • Global outsourcing and packaging
  • Associated manufacturing processes such as extrusion technologies and calendering
  • Chemicals and substrates (e.g. mono and polymeric PVC, PE foams, PU foams, LDPE films, polyester cloths, nylons, cotton cloth and glass cloth)
