Role Profile

Our client is a fast-paced, high-volume logistics business, and are looking to recruit a hands-on Southern Operations Manager to support various sites across South of the UK. Reporting to the Operations Director, you'll be responsible for overseeing a team of Site/ Regional Managers and ensuring excellent customer experience. You will be required to travel across the network so must have a flexible approach to accommodate.

Key Responsibilities

  • To implement strategies that will improve performance across the organisation and develop it for future growth by working with stakeholders across the organisation and successfully leading a team of Site/ Regional Managers
  • Pro-actively review and plan strategies to maximise network service to include capacity & resourcing and ensure the successful implementation of these strategies through the team
  • Set and define budgetary criteria for regional management to apply and maintain to ensure cost efficiency across the business unit
  • To liaise with finance and commercial management to resource and succession plan, assessing volumes, revenues, to help future-proof the network
  • Maintain strong working relationships with FT and self-employed staff, whilst building and developing relationships with relevant union bodies
  • People leadership - developing your team and driving the people agenda to ensure efficiency and excellence
  • Driving improvement in performance across the network by working with Site/ Regional Managers to improve and maintain agreed performance measures to improve customer and client experience
  • Health and Safety compliance within the network to ensure standards are met and maintained

Key Skills

  • Proven experience and background working in a regional capacity, managing multiple sites across a network/ business unit
  • High volume background is essential - e-commerce, retail, FMCG, 3PL etc would be desirable
  • Customer-centric background
  • Previous background of setting and managing P&L's
    Experience of managing third-party relationships
  • Hands on leadership style with the ability to influence at all levels
  • You must have a valid UK driving license and be willing to travel as required across the network
