Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 (DOE) Benefits
The Opportunity
A well-established and growing business is seeking an experienced Depot Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of a busy operational site. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on ensuring efficient depot operations, high service standards, and strong team performance within a fast-paced logistics and distribution environment.
The successful candidate will act as the key operational contact across the wider business, driving operational efficiency, maintaining compliance standards, and ensuring customer expectations are consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily depot operations including goods receiving, storage, inventory control, and dispatch activities
- Ensure efficient workflows and effective use of depot space, equipment, and operational resources
- Lead, motivate, and develop operational teams including supervisors, drivers, and warehouse staff
- Monitor team performance and support training and development initiatives
- Maintain accurate stock control and inventory management processes
- Work closely with warehouse and transport teams to ensure smooth operational coordination
- Ensure compliance with all health & safety regulations and company procedures
- Conduct risk assessments, safety inspections, and implement safe working practices
- Resolve operational challenges and customer issues efficiently and professionally
- Build effective relationships with internal departments, suppliers, and operational partners
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and operational efficiencies
- Support operational excellence initiatives through data, systems, and process improvements
About You
- Proven experience within a depot, warehouse, or logistics management role
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent organisational and planning abilities
- Knowledge of logistics, warehousing, and supply chain operations
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience with warehouse management systems and Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of health & safety and operational compliance standards
- Experience with Microsoft Business Central would be advantageous but is not essential
